FROM VENICE TO DRESDEN

To hone his compositional skills, Johann David Heinichen went to Venice, where he met up with Vivaldi, who pretty much ruled the musical roost. Returning to Germany, he brought the Italian style with him. In Dresden, Johann Georg Pisendel was moving in the same direction. Thus, in the heart of Germany at the dawn of the 18th century, the wonderfully explosive music that you’ll hear in this concert came to flourish.
