PERGOLESI’S RELATIVES REVEALED
Pergolesi was an absolute genius who died young. To exploit his fame, 18th-century copyists claimed he had composed Magnificat, which in reality had been written by Francesco Durante. Several years later Jannacconi would rework Pergolesi’s famed Stabat Mater for a more restrained and sober version. This program presents three scores that might well be considered father, son and nephew.
