In Tchaikovsky the discovery of musical vocation corresponded to the awareness of his sensitivity. It was his nanny who introduced him to the seduction of music, making him listen to a carillon playing Là ci darem la mano, from Mozart's Don Giovanni. And it was still his nanny, to whom Pëter remained always devoted throughout life, who coined the nickname "Child of Glass", to indicate Pëter's fragility which only left him only when the music began.
