Home to the Teatro Elfo Theater Company since 1978, Teatro Elfo was first located on Milano’s Corso di Porta Romana in what was once Xcine, a cinema whose interior was renovated and expanded in the 1970s. Under the artistic direction of Ferdinando Bruni and Elio De Capitani, the two founded Teatro Elfo along with Gabriele Salvatores and actors Corinna Agustoni, Cristina Crippa, Ida Marinelli and Luca Toracca, who are still actively involved in the company’s production. After merging with Teatro Portaromana – another private theater with its own company and a similar history based on reaching out to new audiences through the presentation of contemporary works for theater and interdisciplinary programming – the structure became known as Teatridithalia, doubling production activities and seating capacity. Today Teatro Elfo is temporarily located at Teatro Leonardo da Vinci, while its new location at the Teatro Puccini on Corso Buenos Aires undergoes renovation.
