Io Hitler is a theater production based on the life of the dictator from 1905 to 1933, just prior to his rise to power. With historical precision the play focuses on little known elements from the life of Hitler, without a single concession to morbid curiosities or fictitious inventions. Hitler is not a legendary icon, nor a grotesque mask. He is a man conscious of his actions and responsible for the series of crimes carried out in what was to become one of history’s most vicious and brutal tragedies. The actor, alone on stage, impersonates Hitler with hyper-realistic mimicry wrapped in a continuous refraction of video images and immersed in slimy sonorous lava woven by musicans utilizing the gravest textural expressions of their instruments.
