Born in 1995 in a warehouse of the Central Station, with the characteristic tunnel structure with barrel ceiling, until 2002 the club was a landmark for the underground music culture in Milan.
A privileged meeting place for the alternative Milan of the 90’s, Tunnel Club was the breeding ground for new talents and it hosted artists like Skunk Anansie, 99 Posse, Marlene Kuntz, Cardigans, Vinicio Capossela e Afterhours, to name a few.
In recent years the experimentation that had characterized the club in its firs era has faded away, and with it the Club lost the amount that made it one of the greater underground club in Italy.
The new general management of the Club is now entrusted to Diego Montinaro, promoter, events organizer, dj/producer and the thinking mind that is behind the rebirth of the Yellow Submarine, began in 2005 and ended last January with the closure of the club. For the historic club of via Sammartini begins in September a new life.
The changes desired by the new management are many, both structurally and visually: extensive redesign of stage and interiors, new lighting design, new audio system.
The project has been supervised by Heim & Balp Architects of Berlin and S27 of Milano. The interior redesign has been completed integrating its original appearance with a programmable LED lighting system, a new restricted area and new sets. With a glance at the Berlin clubs and with the collaboration with Luminae.
The concept behind all these changes, that will be the backbone of the new Tunnel Club, is simple: return finally to Milan a place that for too long has been far from the cultural and musical life of the city and bring it back to be a landmark for young people, hosting dj, live bands and artists of international fame.
