Teatro Versace opened its doors in September 2006, but the building in which it is located dates back to the 1920s and was formerly home to Milano’s historical Teatro Alcione. The site was once property of Liberty-style architect Alfredo Campanini, located in Piazza Vetra, at the center of a classic Milanese setting among residential palazzi. Its elliptical shape is based on proportions used in the construction of ancient amphitheaters.
