The headquarters of the Congress Center is the Seventeenth Century Palazzo Confalonieri, in Milan's historic and hyper-active center, which gravitates around the financial business. The building is very close to Teatro alla Scala and Duomo, and close between Via Manzoni and Via Monte di Pieta, one of the arteries devoted to fashion. Palazzo Confalonieri occupies an area rich in history and was constructed in the '600, when it became the residence of Confalonieri, one of the most noble families in Milan. The Fondazione Cariplo has always given attention to art and culture, a sensibility that has led to finance initiatives and projects - the restoration of Palazzo Reale and Triennale di Milano - but also the acquisition of works of art, such as paintings, sculptures, archaeological items and oriental art that create a collection of great interest and value. A substantial part of this collection is now in the Congress Center - the rest is distributed in several branches of the banking group.
