APOTHEOSIS
When he called Beethoven Symphony no. 7 “the apotheosis of dance”, Wagner sought to point out the relentless beat of that great work. In reality, all of Beethoven’s music, once we listen closely, reveals a structure where rhythm takes a front seat over themes. This is clear in his Concerto no. 3, here performed by a young star on the international music scene.
