MITO promuove il 1° Concorso Internazionale di Composizione di musica sacra

Milano & Torino
/ 22 March 2013
The MITO SettembreMusica Festival, together with the Veneranda Fabbrica del Duomo di Milano, the Musical Chapel and Casa Ricordi, present the 1st International Competition of Church Music Composition, for the celebration of the 1700-year anniversary of the Edict of Constantine in 2013: in Milan, in 313 the Emperor Constantine issued his Edict of Toleration. This initiative put an end to all forms of religious discrimination in the empire and thereby guaranteed full freedom of worship to Christians. One of the immediate consequences of the edict of Milan was the vigorous growth in the Christian churches of music tied to the liturgy. By sponsoring the international competition for a composition for orchestra, solo voices and choir, MITO Festival, Duomo of Milano and Ricordi intend to renew that tradition of sacred music. The winner, in addition to receiving a cash prize, will see his/her score published by Casa Ricordi, and its first performance in the Duomo, in September 2013, during the MITO SettembreMusica Festival. With this event, the Duomo of Milan again becomes the center of the city’s cultural life and international scared music scene by promoting the participation of young, promising composers from around the globe, who can enter their works by May 31, 2013.
