“Impariamo ad ascoltare la musica” con Franco Pulcini
Milano
/ 23 June 2009
“Music: A Journey from Emotion to Emotion”, June 25th, 6 p.m. with musicologist Franco Pulcini, at the Villa Necchi Campiglio, and streaming live on this website, signals MITO’s new initiative “MITO Educational”. This seminar, in collaboration with FAI - Fondo Ambiente Italiano, is part of a series of seminars for adults, concerts, and other events for all ages that will allow audiences to have a more enriching experience during this year’s festival and enhance their general understanding and appreciation of music. Mr. Pulcini’s seminar, (the first in a series of three in Milano), will discuss the link between classical music, memory and emotions.
“Great music presupposes concentration. To listen to music is to distinguish recognizable forms in its sounds. The articulation of these sound profiles is the essence of great musical forms, that species of architectural design dispersed in the space called “classical music”. However, this music can become a sort of “abstract narrative” if we discover the mode to unravel it’s rules thus allowing the musician’s genius to capture our attention until our emotional world has been profoundly penetrated.”
Critic, publicist, and historian Franco Pulcini has, from 2005, worked in the Artistic Management division of La Scala as a “Scientific Coordinator” and also as an editor. He has published the research books “Shostakovich”, (EDT, 1988); “Janacek: Vita, Opere, Scritti”, (Passigli, 1993); and a volume on conversations with Franco Battiato entitled “Tecnica mista su tappet”, (EDT, 1992). He has also written a series of ten biographical images of illustrious musicians for the “De Sono Musica” of Torino.
