Enter website Teatro Ciak Webank.it c/o Fabbrica del Vapore is a one-of-a-kind theater whose uniqueness can be traced to its origins. It was 1977 when Leo Wachter, a brilliant entertainment impresario, followed his instincts and realized his long-time dream of creating a theater that would offer audiences a wide range of inspired programming, giving rise to Teatro Ciak. The theater was installed in what had formerly been the Dea cinema, in what at the time was an outlying area of Milano. Highly original programs typically included a pair of feature-length films with an hour-long live comedy performance in between. Audiences ate it up.
The theater has hosted everything from cinema to music to theatrical performances, mime and cabaret, featuring big stars and up-and-coming talent. Previously under the guidance of the Wachter family, since the 1999-2000 season the theater’s artistic director has been Gianmario Longoni, who also directs Teatro Nazionale and Teatro Smeraldo. Recently Teatro Ciak moved from its original location on Milano’s Via Sangallo to the Fabbrica del Vapore on Via Procaccini, a temporary location – before settling into a more permanent one, which will guarantee the theater at least another three decades of entertainment and cultural history in the making.
