La Venexiana, founded by Claudio Cavina, is today credited as the most important group for the Monteverdi repertoire. Since the beginning, the collaboration with the spanish label Glossa Music got off to the collection Il Madrigale Italiano, with the aim of realising 12 Cd dedicated to the italian madrigal repertoire in 1500 and 1600. Recently La Venexianacompleted the recording of all the Madrigals by Monteverdi. La Venexiana performed in the most important international festival and concert halls: Vienna MusikVerein, Barcellona, Strasbourg, Paris, Karlsruhe, Fribourg, Utrecht, Regensburg, Bruxelles, Bruges, Bogotà, New York, San Francisco, Tucson, San Diego, Seattle, Chicago, St Petersburg. In 2006 La Venexiana staged Ballo delle Ingrate in Festival Van Vlaanderen, and in 2008 the group toured L' Orfeo by Claudio Monteverdi, in occasion of the 400° Anniversary of the first performance (Mantova, 1607) performing then in London, Melk, Regensburg, Genova, Viterbo, Modena, Jerez, St. Gallen, Lyon, Eilat, Sablé, Chantilly. Thanks to the “L’Orfeo” recording La Venexiana gained the Gramophone Award 2008 for Baroque Vocal. Since 2009 a new Monteverdi opera project: L'Incoronazione di Poppea presented with great success in Paris (Cité de la Musique), Poissy, Regensburg, Milano, Genova, London, Hamburg and many other cities. La Venexiana created a new style in the italian early music, not only from the interpretation point of view but also considering text, declamation, rethoryc, all with a very interesting “mediterranean” taste.
