Johannes Brahms Sinfonia n. 3 in fa maggiore op. 90 Concerto n. 2 in si bemolle maggiore per pianoforte e orchestra op. 83

Lukas Sternath, piano

Jakub Hrůša, conductor

The Bamberger Symphoniker, conducted by Jakub Hrůša, bring MITO to a close with Brahms. His Third Symphony does not end in triumph: its final           movement fades into the quiet peace of the opening theme—one of the most unexpected endings in the symphonic repertoire. The program continues with    Piano Concerto No. 2. Brahms jokingly referred to it as “a little piece,” despite the fact that it is among  the longest and most complex works in the repertoire. A farewell that speaks of harmony as mutual listening.
