ROMÉO ET JULIETTE
Could the two lovers from Verona ever hope for choreography more inspired than that of Maestro Angelin Preljocaj? Roméo et Juliette, created for the Ballet Preljocaj in 1996, is the ballet that catapulted Preljocaj onto the international dance scene and launched a stunning career. Passion, urban decay, social conflict, and powerfully evocative music by Prokofiev all play a part in making this work a masterpiece. Preljocaj tells us about the world through dance, focusing on heavy-duty themes, which are explored with a lean but forceful and energized gestural language, marked by great physicality.
