Clementi and Mozart were the same age. It was Christmas of 1781 when the two musicians faced off against one another before the Emperor in Vienna. After that, Muzio would harbor much affection for the music of Wolfgang, as shown by his chamber arrangements of Mozart’s last six symphonies.
