Despite his relative youth, Austrian baritone Markus Werba has already established a remarkable career and has performed at the world’s finest opera houses and concert venues, including La Scala, the Royal Opera House Covent Garden, Bayersiche Staatsoper, Los Angeles Opera, Metropolitan Opera New York, Suntory Hall Tokyo and Teatro Colon Buenos Aires, and for the Baden-Baden, Salzburg, Gergiev, Tanglewood and Aspen festivals. In 2014-2015 and beyond, his projects include Rodrigo in Don Carlos for the New National Theatre in Tokyo and Semperoper Dresden, Papageno in Die Zauberflöte for the Metropolitan Opera, the Royal Opera House and the Wiener Staatsoper, re-invitations at La Scala and at the Theater an der Wien as well as concerts with orchestras such as the Philharmonia Orchestra and the Orchestre National d'Ile de France, and recitals at the Wigmore Hall and the Schubertiade. Recent highlights include Figaro Le nozze di Figaro, Eisenstein Die Fledermaus and Belcore L’elisir d’amore for the Wiener Staatsoper, Don Giovanni in Turin, La Fenice and Zurich Opera, Beckmesser Die Meistersinger von Nürnberg for the Salzburg Festival, Don Alfonso Cosi fan tutte with the Theater an der Wien and Harnoncourt, both Marcello La Boheme and Harlequin Ariadne for the Royal Opera House, Covent Garden and Roland Fierrabras at the Salzburg Festival. He also gave a tour of concerts with Enrique Mazzola and the Orchestre national d’ile de France and recital appearances for the Musée d'Orsay and the Wigmore Hall and has worked with conductors such as Claudio Abbado, Riccardo Muti, James Conlon, James Levine, Jean-Christophe Spinosi, Nikolaus Harnoncourt, Emmanuel Villaume, Ivan Fischer, Daniele Gatti and Rafael Frühbeck de Burgos, amongst others.
