Milano’s Auditorium Fondazione Cariplo, musical home to the Giuseppe Verdi Symphonic Orchestra and Choir, is one of the city’s most important cultural centers. This grand concert hall was born with the restructuring of Cinema Teatro Massimo, thanks to efforts by entrepreneur Agostino Liuni and based on a design by Studio Marzorati. The “spoon-shaped” seating plan is completed by a tiered gallery with a curvilinear balustrade. The ceiling is noted for its fully visible reticular reinforced concrete beams, picturesquely fanning out toward the proscenium. Excellent acoustics thanks to pear-wood panels with a range of different curvatures. Seating capacity: 1,250.
