Roberto Cominati won first prize at the "Alfredo Casella" International Competition in Naples in 1991. In 1993, he came to the attention of critics by winning first prize at the "Ferruccio Busoni" Competition in Bolzano. In 1999 he also won the "Jacques Stehman" audience prize from Belgian television and French broadcaster TV5, as part of the "Reine Elisabeth'' Competition in Brussels. In Italy, he has been a guest of prestigious musical institutions such as Teatro alla Scala, Teatro Comunale di Bologna, Teatro La Fenice di Venezia, Maggio Musicale Fiorentino, Teatro San Carlo di Napoli, Teatro Carlo Felice di Genova, Accademia Nazionale di Santa Cecilia, Orchestra Sinfonica Nazionale della Rai, Accademia Chigiana di Siena, Festival Pianistico di Brescia e Bergamo and Festival dei Due Mondi di Spoleto. He has performed at the Théâtre du Châtelet in Paris, the Concertgebouw in Amsterdam, the Konzerthaus in Berlin, the Salzburg Festival, the Gasteig in Munich, the Monnaie in Brussels, the Teatro Colón in Buenos Aires, the Kennedy Center in Washington, DC, and then again in England, Belgium, the Netherlands, Chile, Uruguay, Brazil, Finland, Japan and Australia. Conductors with whom he has collaborated include Simon Rattle, Daniele Gatti, Andrej Borejko, Leon Fleisher, Daniel Harding, Yuri Ahronovitch, David Robertson, Mikhail Pletnëv, Alexander Lazarev, Andrea Battistoni, Michele Mariotti, Juraj Valčuha, Sascha Goetzel and Eliahu Inbal. In past seasons he has performed at the Bratislava Festival, in Turin with the OSN Rai, in Palermo with the Teatro Massimo Orchestra, at the Teatro alla Scala and again in Milan with laVerdi, in New York with the Chamber Orchestra of New York, at the Concertgebouw in Amsterdam for the "Meesterpianisten" series, and in Bologna with the Teatro Comunale Orchestra conducted by Michele Mariotti. He is completing for Decca the recording of Debussy's complete piano works (the first two CDs of which are already available). Previous recordings include Bach & Händel, Transcriptions for Piano for Acousence and Ravel's complete piano works for "Amadeus."
