CASA GABRIELI
In the late 16th and early 17th centuries Andrea Gabrieli and his nephew Giovanni brought to life a new way of making music in Venice. Voices and instruments were distributed throughout architectonic space, creating a spectacular weave of melodies. Monteverdi followed their example, as did Marini and Schütz, who traveled from Germany to Venice to learn the new techniques.
