At the onset of the 18th century, rife with rationalism, Nature was consistently considered a model, with naturalness being the aim of all arts. But Vivaldi’s very Baroque creation is fake nature: the extreme formal artifice masked in a normal, spontaneous gesture. Let everyone believe.
