Appeal is the right word. La Banda di Avola and Mirco Menna truly appeal to one another. Songs by the singer-songwriter and the marching band flourishes of the arrangements get along superbly. More than a meeting, this is a return home, clearly to folk roots. The sound sincerely harks back to another epoch, and yet it is also absolutely modern.
