The population of the Samaritans, whose origin lies in an ancient past, have succeeded in maintaining their strong cultural, religious and musical identity unchanged over the centuries. Today just 700 Samaritans remain. They live in small communities between the city of Holon in Israel and their sacred mountain Greisim in the Palestinian Territories. Yuval Avital gathers in his new opera a Samaritan choir, an ensemble of soloists, and a strong multimedia creation, narrating the collective past, the individual present and the sacred reality of this unique culture.
The multimedia part is made by Francesco Lupi Timinil (video) and Riccardo Sinigaglia (sound design). Kicco, Mattia Bosco and Maya Angeli are the stage designers.
