In recent decades the concept of Austria felix has spread throughout the world thanks to expanded knowledge of the cultural, political and social life under the Habsburg monarchy. The watchwords were clarity and elegance, which in music were best expressed by Haydn, the composer who created symphony. We return to those early genteel (but in no way timid) renditions of what was the new musical creature with the adorable triptych of symphonies aptly entitled Le matin, Le midi, Le soir .
