Follow live on this website Saturday Sept. 12th at 10 p.m. Mixed Reality Performance: An evening in Sirikata, a project commissioned by Festival MITO. An experiment in musical interactions between musicians communicating from diverse locations, that put in play the traditional concept of a concert in the era of the internet, to propose a new form that transcends physical space utilizing technology. A pianist in Milano plays in the center of the hall, the sounds produced are transmitted via a network and manipulated by computer by other musicians of the ensemble, and transmitted to California then restored in real time by diffusion of sound installed in the hall in Milano. Giant screens project virtual scenes realized in Sirikata, an open source information platform that creates space, horizons of digital visions. Sirikata is a virtual space in which performers produce sound traversing their distances and their actions. In Milano a system of surround sound will be positioned around the public, the sounds generated in the virtual world will seem as if born in the physical space of the performance. The spectators are immersed in a recreated synthetic world, crossing the spatial stimuli both auditory and visual in a unique three dimensional experience. On another monitor the public of avatar assists the concert live across the virtual world of Second Life. Read the detailed program for the evening.
