Trio Rouge

Trio Rouge was formed for the first time following to a project devised by Vincent Courtois for the French festival Jazz sous les pommiers, in Coutances. Inside this project, jazz improvisation meets the traditional Italian music, both music forms without written scores. Cellist Courtois has found in the composer and tuba player and skilled improviser Michel Godard, and in Lucilla Galeazzzi two perfect accomplices. The Trio is formed on occasions around specific projects, to break up every time till the next project. What they create on stage are fascinating sound pictures of Mediterranean taste, which could be described as imaginary folklore. Popular Italian songs - serenate, tarantelle, or Partisans’ songs as Bella, ciao - are merged with elements coming from classical music, from jazz and from avant garde. The wonderful and meaningful voice of Lucilla Galeazzi flies over the dialogues between tuba and cello, which speak using the light arrangements by Courtois and Godard - their new tone colours giving new and fascinating life to those ancient songs.
