Gianluca Cascioli

Gianluca Cascioli was born in Turin in 1979. His career was launched with his victory at the 1994 Umberto Micheli International Piano Competition. Since then he has appeared in the major music centres in Europe, North America, and Japan. Mr. Cascioli has performed with such prestigious ensembles as the “Camerata Salzburg”, the “Berliner Philharmoniker”, the “Wiener Philharmoniker”, the “London Philharmonic”, the “Royal Philharmonic”, the ”Orchestra Sinfonica Nazionale della RAI”, the ”Orchestra Filarmonica della Scala”, the “New York Philharmonic” and the “San Francisco Symphony”.
He collaborated with famous conductors such as Claudio Abbado, Vladimir Ashkenazy, Myung-Whun Chung, Valery Gergiev, Riccardo Muti, Lorin Maazel, Zubin Metha, Gianandrea Noseda, Yuri Temirkanov and many more.
As a pianist and conductor he also toured South America with the ”Orchestra da Camera” of Mantova and in Spain with the “Kammerorchester Berlin”.
His compositions has been performed in prestigious halls such as Musikhalle in Hanburg, the “Wigmore Hall” in London, the “Palau de la Musica” in Barcellona.
In 2009 Mr. Cascioli won the 2nd prize at the 27th I.C.O.M.S. International Competition for composers with his Trio for violin, cello and piano.
In 2010 his Three lyric pieces for violin and piano received unanimously the First Prize at 28th
I.C.O.M.S. contest.
In 2010 he also received “Prize Mozart” for his Three lyric pieces for violin and piano at the International Competition for Composers 2nd August with a jury presided by Ennio Morricone.
Mr. Cascioli first recording was released in 1995 by Deutsche Grammophon there followed a second recording the Fantasy for piano and orchestra (first version of concert for piano op. 54) by Schumann for “Novalis” with the Symphonic Orchestra in 2002, the 4 Scherzi by Chopin and in and a double CD with Preludes and other works by Debussy for Decca in 2005-2006 and a CD with Sonatas by Beethoven in 2009. In 2010, has been released his new CD with Beethovenian Sonatas for Deutsche Grammophon together with violinist Sayaka Shoji.
