Performance originally staged by the Compagnia Marionettistica Carlo Colla e Figli in 1906, year of the Milano Expo, with materials acquired at Japan’s pavillion at the Expo: lacquered heads, marionettes, fabrics and armor. Story based on the Japanese fable The Mouse Geisha, which recounts in operetta form how a beautiful village maiden was offered in marriage by fellow villagers to the most powerful being in all the universe. The show returns to Milano courtesy of MITO SettembreMusica, as part of our series dedicated to Japan, as the city of Milano gears up to once again host the World Expo in 2015.
