Secondo appuntamento Educational: Musica e Matematica

Wednesday, June 16th, at 6:30 p.m. at Bocconi University in via Roentgen 1, there will be the second seminar of the cycle "Music that meets...", proposed in Milan by Festival MITO SettembreMusica, as part of the second edition of MITOeducational project. The second event is dedicated to a combination that since ancient times has attracted the greatest personalities of culture, from Pythagoras to Fourier until contemporaries: "Music and Mathematics" has as its special guest Giulio Giorello, philosopher and mathematician. He will talk about the deep connection between the seemingly barren world of numbers and musical poetics. Pianists Carlo Boccadoro and Andrea Rebaudengo, from Sentieri selvaggi, will acompany him, performing pieces in which is dominant the control of rhythmic structures and melodies. The program is the following: Silvia Colasanti, Logica in fiamme György Ligeti, Études Paolo Castaldi, Scale David Lang, Gravity - After gravity Mauricio Kagel, MM51 Giulio Giorello, philosopher, mathematician and epistemologist, was born in Milan in 1945. He graduated in Philosophy in 1968 and three years after he graduated in Mathematics at the University of Milan, where he is currently Professor of Philosophy of Science, taking the place of his mentor Louis Geymonat. Today, his studies are aimed at investigating the relationship between science, ethics and politics. Among his latest works: “Il peso politico della scienza” (2008), “Lo scimmione intelligente. Dio, natura e libertà” (2009), “Lussuria. La passione della conoscenza” (2010). Moderated by Francesca Colombo, Secretary General of the Festival and Artistic Coordinator.
