ADAMS’ ANCESTORS
“Writing a quartet is one of the greatest challenges for a composer.” So says John Adams, who called in the St. Lawrence String Quartet to improvise, redevelop, rehearse and put the finishing touches on his Second Quartet, which makes its European premiere at MITO. Enjoy it along with quartets by Haydn and Beethoven, whose works were Adams’ reference points.
