Shortly after its founding in November 1974, Milano’s Center for Theatrical Research (CRT) had already become the most important center of its kind in Italy. Since 1985, besides its Via Dini theater, CRT has staged performances at the Teatro dell’Arte, a 1933 construction based on a design by architect Giovanni Muzio and included in architectonic structure of Palazzo dell’Arte in the Milano Triennale. A restoration project from 1989 to 1997 recovered the building’s original contours, which had been covered up by previous restoration efforts. Performances for CRT’s annual theater season are held in the Sala Grande, capacity 490. The nearby Sala Poeti, capacity 80, hosts roundtable discussions, seminars, presentations, conferences and smaller shows with reduced seating capacity.
