In 1899, in the area around via Messina there was the Company Carminati Toselli &C., dedicated to the construction, repair, and sale of movable and fixed material for railways, tramways and related. For the company, under the Fascist regime, began a crisis period that ended with its closure in 1935. From the recovery of that abandoned industrial area a multifunctional center is developing, in which young people can experiment ideas and creative abilities in contact with professionals and experts from various fields of cultural production. Fabbrica del Vapore wants to be the meeting point between capable operators and talented young people. The recovery of the buildings of Fabbrica del Vapore has created a set of flexible spaces, adaptable to different functions. The effective surface is about 14.000 square meters: 7.000 dedicated to the workshops’ activities and 7.000 destined to exhibitions, entertainment, catering and complementary services.
