This Church, planned by the architect Marco Bianchi Romano, was erected by the “Minimi Fathers” in 1728 whose congregation was founded by St. Francesco di Paola on the site of a church consecrated to the memory of St. Anastasia was destroyed after a fire in 1693. The present building, in baroque style, was not finished at once; in fact, its façade was completed only in 1890 by the architect Alemagna. Its only nave, of an oval shape, is interrupted by several openings housing altars, lodges and niches for statues. The high Altar, richly decorated with precious marbles and semi-precious stones, is a real jewel, it is Buzzi’s work (second half of XVIII century), while the framed altar piece, representing S. Francesco di Paola, was painted in 1647 by Giovanni Masi. For the occasion of the Jubilee year of 2000 a conservative restoration of the entire church was completed.
