The San Fedele Cultural Center opened as “a free intellectual meeting place aimed at examining and fostering, through various cultural and artistic endeavors, trends in contemporary thought, with a special focus on spiritual content,” as stated by Father Arcangelo Favaro, the center’s founder. The center’s new headquarters were inaugurated in 1968. In 1994 the San Fedele Cultural Center was registered as a non-profit organization, covering activities performed at San Fedele, whose aims are designed to meet the religious demands of the Compagnia di Gesù.
The foundation is currently headed by Father Giacomo Costa S.J., and promotes and organizes conferences and seminars, publishes magazines (Aggiornamenti Sociali, Popoli and the newsletter San Fedele Incontri) and books, promotes art series, film forum cycles, and theatrical and musical performances, as well as research and documentation in its specialized library and historical archives.
