What’s new at the third edition
MITO educational
A new educational program with three pre-festival sessions in June, July and September that focus on music appreciation and developing listening skills. During the festival, in collaboration with schools, a selection of concerts will be open to students of all ages, with introductory info packets provided for attendees.

MITO ecology
MITO SettembreMusica continues its commitment to the environment in a number of important ways, beginning with collaboration with suppliers and technical partners who work to reduce environmental impact to a minimum. The festival’s emissions will be completely compensated by the creation of
new forests. MITO SettembreMusica’s “zero impact” initiative embarks upon new projects aimed at increased audience involvement through more interactive platforms, including an environment and ecology section on the new website, and You Impact, which features an eco-competition and a space open to users where they can report their own environmentally friendly initiatives linked to participation in MITO SettembreMusica.

MITO new Milano-Torino connections
A new shuttle bus service between Torino and Milano makes getting back and forth even easier. A great way for fans to catch some of the festival’s most important concerts in both cities, cheaply and hassle-free. The performances in which shuttle service will be available will be marked with “shuttle Torino/Milano” or “shuttle Milano/Torino”.

MITO cities
MITO SettembreMusica is also about enlivening the cities of Milano and Torino in ways that complement the program of musical events. In Milano, for example, window dressers will compete in the “musical theme” shop window contest. Several Friday and Saturday evening concerts will be held in outlying piazzas and streets, presented in collaboration with Milano’s Union of Commerce. In collaboration with the Transit Authority of Milano, several subway station stops will be featuring four hours of live music daily throughout the duration of the festival. There will also be musical moments each Monday evening in residential areas of the city, in collaboration with Music in the Air, and a musical tribute to residents at the Giuseppe Verdi Rest Home, plus lots more exciting music-based initiatives. The Milano Triennale will be hosting MITOcafé, open 6 p.m. - 2 a.m. each night of the festival, a chance for music fans to get together, compare notes and meet the artists. Torino will be serving up surprise performances in piazzas, gardens, parks, historical cafés, hospitals, reception centers, rest homes, book stores, libraries - wherever possible – as the MITO SettembreMusica atmosphere pervades the entire city.

MITO technology
The MITO SettembreMusica website has been completely renewed, featuring MITO Web TV, which will broadcast highlights of the festival along with interviews of artists and concert goers. After registration at the MITO SettembreMusica website, music fans can create a personalized page listing favorite performances attended and participate in special promotions via SMS and e-mail. There’s also a blog space with news on concerts and events to keep fans up to date on performance schedules. Technology also plays a part in the
creation of a special concert performed live by musicians located throughout the world and connected on-line. Plus concerts and discussions available for listening on-line, and many more pleasant surprises.
