Lorna Windsor

Lorna Windsor, following her studies in viola and piano, became an Associate of the Guildhall School of Music and Drama in Singing, furthering her studies with G.Souzay in France, H.Hotter in Vienna and in Italy.
Her brilliant stage personality came to the fore immediately in her operetta debut as Rosalinde in "Die Fledermaus", and Die lustige Witwe in major british cities, Tours and Marseilles, and in large array of Offenbach roles with Jérôme Savary at the Théâtre des Champs Elysées in Paris, at Radio France, and other theatres. She also interpreted various roles in eighteenth century neapolitan opere buffe at the Teatro Massimo in Palermo, with producer Graziella Sciutti, and has worked as a stage and film actress, alongside Susanna York, with cinema director, Paolo Benvenuti, and in various plays in major theatres in Paris and Italy.
In the field of early music Miss Windsor ‘s repertoire begins with the 1300’s occitan songs of the Trobadors, includes sefardic songs of the 15th century, and many performances of the major works by Monteverdi in Mantua, Vienna, Prague, Budapest and in Germany, directed by C. Gallico.
Her Mozart roles include Venere (Ascanio in Alba), Donna Anna (Don Giovanni )at Glyndebourne, Despina (Cosi fan tutte) directed by Claudio Abbado and also Giorgio Strehler’s production for the Piccolo Teatro di Milano, Rome, Beijing, Saint Petersburg and Moscow; she has also performed Salieri directed by Frans Bruggen, Bach Cantatas with Gustav Leonhardt, and collaborated with numerous orchestras and groups of original instruments, including Lieder with fortepianos and early pianos. Amongst her recordings are the Motets de Versailles by Blanchard and Mozart’s Ascanio in Alba.
Other roles she has performed are those of Euridice (Peri) at the Théâtre du Châtelet, Parigi, Oscar Un ballo in maschera in Reims, Sophie Der Rosenkavalier in Parigi, Norina in "Don Pasquale" in Verona and L’Enfant et les sortileges with producer Daniele Abbado in Ancona and Bari, as well as numerous world premieres in major theatres and festivals.
Recognized as a refined interpreter of Lieder, Ms. Windsor frequently sings chamber music, from romantic chamber music, to cross-over style, to contemporary music with orchestra or ensemble,
(her repertoire includes includes Berio (Sequenza, Folksongs, Circles), Cage, Nono, Feldman, Castiglioni, Hindemith, Crumb, Schoenberg (Pierrot Lunaire at the ROH Covent Garden), Denissov, Ives, Boulez, Messiaen, Kurtag (Kafka Fragments), Togni, Dallapiccola, Aperghis,Tzortzis, Morales-Caso...), in the world’s major festivals, and is often the chosen voice and interpreter of today’s foremost composers.
