Budapest Monteverdi Choir

The Budapest Monteverdi Choir was founded by Prof. Éva Kollár in 1972. For 42 years the ensemble has been awarded many prizes, both home and internationally (Grand Prix’ in Arezzo 1985, Pécs Mundus Cantat (1996), in Sligo (1997), in Prague (2006), and many first prizes in Europe. There is a pretty large scale of the repertoire on their programme, from the European Renaissance to the contemporary music. The choir was the part of many newly executed compositions both a cappella and oratorique works. Their performances are available on several CD-s (by the Hungaroton and Carus) and also in the form of radio and television recordings. The Monteverdi Choir is the founder of the International Monteverdi Festivals in Hungary (Esztergom, Vác, Budapest). In 2011 the 4th edition of this nice events was organised also with much success. Budapest Monteverdi Choir’s tours were executed in 2011 to Briançon, Le Bourget du Lac, Genève, Frankfurt am Main, Kiev and Moscow. In 2012 the choir has celebrated his 40th jubilee with a series of special concerts. In 2013 the choir has given several concerts both home and abroad (France and Austria), and it was the guest choir of the XXIst Choralies in Vaison-la-Romain (where Prof. Kollár was an atelier-leader). In november the ensemble has executed a common concert with Sig. José CURA at the famous Bela Bartok Concert Hall in Budapest. On their programme there are the high-lights of European and Hungarian Choral Music.
