Accademia d'Arcadia

Last update: before 2019
The ensemble Accademia d’Arcadia (with the use of original instruments) was founded within the Fondazione Arcadia, completing and crowning the work of study and research. The ensemble is characterized by a particular care in the choice of the programs and the attention to historically documented performances through the meticulous study of performance practice in all its aspects. The development of music programs follows a broad-spectrum research looking for links between music, literature and painting of the period, or comparing Italian authors working abroad and foreign authors active in Italy, reviving the competition between musicians in the different capital cities of the time or again, aiming to stimulate interests and to broaden the listener’s horizons. This is a work that unites performance practices, entrusted only to the original instruments, using the theoretical research of ancient sources and knowledge of various historical and cultural contexts. The orchestra varies from six to thirty musicians who are already members or soloists of the most important ancient music groups and they all share the pleasure of exploring new programs.
