In theater the sound of the taiko signifies the apparition of gods and their thundering, closely linked to rural Japanese settings, which to this day is still widely diffused. These huge double-membrane drums can reach up to one meter in diameter, and the players of the Taikoza Ensemble are masters. Alongside the taiko, which can also be as delicate “as a snowflake”, there are the shakuhachi and flue flutes, and the koto zither harp, for a thrilling blend of sounds.
