The centerpiece here is a mass composed by Juan Gutiérrez de
Padilla in South America in the early 1600s, on the famed Ego flos
campi from the Song of Songs. Also on the program, European music from the same period provides reference points. Though lesser known in Baroque annals, it remains terribly fascinating.
