GOODBYES

Händel and Froberger left Germany and set up shop in London. Christian Bach took the job of organist at the Duomo in Milano. Scarlatti emigrated from Italy and eventually wound up in Spain, where, musically speaking, Carl Philipp Emanuel Bach followed him. More goodbyes from Froberger, consumed by thoughts of his future death, and Johann Sebastian Bach, who had to write one last fugue before leaving this world. And yet another émigré composer, Geoffrey King.
