MASS FOR THE DUKE OF MILAN
Loyset Compère was one of the stars of the extraordinary season during the 1400s in which the self-aggrandizing Duke of Milano Galeazzo Maria Sforza commissioned the construction of a chapel large enough for some 40 singers and an ensemble containing various instruments. To recreate that great wealth of colors, this program brings together a group of vocalists and several different lineups of musicians, and features a magnificent Mass, along with other compositions of the period.
