Following a surgical operation – that could not be delayed – Maestro Antonio Pappano must observe a period of convalescence, to his great regret, where he will not be able to direct the concerts with the Orchestra dell’Academia Nazionale di Santa Cecilia announced in the MITO Festival programming to have taken place at the Auditorium Giovanni Agnelli Lingotto in Torino on Sept. 7th and the Sala Verdi del Conservatorio di Milano on Sept. 8th. “MITO is a Festival able to transport a wave of identical public enthusiasm even between very diverse groups. A surgical procedure has impeded my participation at the last minute. I am deeply sorry, but I rest on the possibility to return to this formidable festival, in which I reserve my most affectionate greetings, as soon as possible with the Orchestra di Santa Cecilia” - Statement by Maestro Pappano The Accademia Nazionale di Santa Cecilia and MITO SettembreMusica wishes Maestro Pappano a speedy recovery, and communicates that the concerts will not be cancelled but instead directed by Diego Matheuz with a program slightly modified in respect to the program originally announced: Gioachino Rossini William Tell Overture Felix Mendelssohn-Bartholdy Symphony No. 4 in A Major Op. 90 “Italiana” Peter Tchaikovsky Symphony No. 5 in E Minor Op. 64
